The SPEED-WDM 21 is a purely passive, optical mux/demux unit. Using the innovative concept it provides a cost-effective alternative to transmit only two applications over a fiber link in a point-to-point connection. This WDM unit is perfectly suited for connecting up to two existing network units that can be equipped directly with a 1310nm or 1550nm SFP. In the event that an integration of SFP cannot be realized, other SPEED products like the SPEED-DUALLINE SFP can be used for a cost-effective wavelength conversion. The optical output signals (1310nm or 1550nm) of both network units are connected to the SPEED-WDM 21 by patch cable to be multiplexed on a pair of fibers (link) to save fibers. The SPEED-WDM 21 is designed for the installation in all SPEED housings like the 1-slot stand-alone housing, 4-slot SPEED-CARRIER 1U, SPEED-COMPACT CWDM or SPEED-CARRIER 4.5U (16+1 slots). The optical module SPEED-WDM 21 is a purely passive module without the need of additional power for easy maintenance and fail-safe operation.
