Compact optical 10Gbps module with 3R functionality

The SPEED-SINGLELINE XFP is a cost-saving conversion module suitable for high-speed 10G signals. The module supports two flexible XFP ports suitable for wavelength conversion  (850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM/DWDM or tunable optics) while the optical power budget (up to 24dB/approx. 80km distance) and the transferring application (10GbE, 10G FC, STM-64) are individually defined. The SPEED-SINGLELINE XFP can be used for existing 10Gigabit systems like 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches to achieve long distances (up to 80km). Thus existing 10Gigabit systems are not restricted to installed 10Gigabit optics which are mostly limited to few kilometers.

The main field of application is cost-optimized CWDM and DWDM networks. As an intelligent transponder module, the SPEED-SINGLELINE XFP converts a transparent data channel to a corresponding CWDM/DWDM wavelength. By means of the implemented 3R functionality (re-amplification, re-shaping, re-timing) for signal processing, the module is also suited for the use as a repeater. Even future data rates between 9.95Gbps and 11.32Gbps can be provided. A SPEED-SINGLELINE XFP can be selected, both with and without Forward-Error-Correction (FEC). Two types of housings are available for installation in a 19” shelf. 17 slots are provided by using the SPEED-CARRIER 4.5U while a SPEED-CARRIER 1U supports up to four modules. Both housings can be monitored and configured through SNMP, HTTP or Telnet using a management module.
