Usecases
Connecting voice and data services using a pair of fibers
The SPEED-MODEM FO is an extremely flexible fiber optic modem for extension of one or two voice and/or data applications using a pair of fibers. The product provides one or two E1 (G.703/G.704), one Fast Ethernet (10/100BaseTX) with optional support of two switched ports or one X.21/V.35 ports as availa-ble interfaces.
Transparent PBX transmission via a single fiber
Using bi-directional SFP transceivers a transparent PBX connection can be realized by using just a single fiber. A transmission over a single fiber can be accomplished by using different wavelengths for transmitting and receiving (e.g. 1310 nm and 1550 nm). The SPEED-MODEM FO an be installed in a 1-slot standalone housing or a 4-slot SPEED-RACKHOUSING (19"). The SPEED-RACKHOUSING provides the ability to optionally monitor the SPEED-MODEM FO via SNMP by using a management module. Alternatively a configuration can be achieved easily by using the console port or DIP switches.
Ethernet access by using CWdM wavelengths
The use of the SFP technology enables the line side to flexibly meet varying demands (Single-mode, Multimode, bi-directional operation, CWDM, DWDM) by simply changing the SFP module. The SPEED-MODEM FO provides a future-proof and cost-effective migration to CWDM and DWDM networks by using corresponding xWDM transceivers.
