The SPEED-CWDM 41/51/91/121 are passive mux/demux units whose innovative design allows them to be used as an extremely cost-effective alternative to existing, active CWDM systems especially in point-to-point applications. The CWDM units are perfectly suited for the connection to existing, SFP-based devices which can be equipped directly with CWDM wavelengths. In the case that existing devices cannot be equipped with SFP modules other SPEED-products can be used for cost-effective wavelength conversion (e.g. SPEED-CONVERTER SFP). Up to eight applications can be transmitted especially in point-to-point or “drop and bypass” applications without any additional effort using only a single pair of fibers. The SPEED-CWDM is available in three versions for installation in an 1-slot stand-alone housing, 4-slot SPEED-RACKHOUSING, 19“ SPEED-SHELF (16 slots) and the 19” SPEED-CARRIER (20 slots). The SPEED-CWDM 41 is equipped with four protocol transparent 1511, 1531, 1551, 1571nm Singlemode wavelengths, while the SPEED-CWDM 51 includes an additional 1310nm channel to be used for connecting another application or for monitoring services. The SPEED-CWDM 91 provides even eight CWDM channels and additionally a 1310nm channel for any protocols. 19” housings supporting up to 12 CWDM channels (SPEED-CWDM 121) as well as extended versions are furthermore available on request. The SPEED-CWDM series provides purely optical operation, needs no additional power supply and thus is an easy-to-maintain and fail-safe platform.
