Description
The SPEED-DWDM 81 consists of passive mux/demux units. The innovative design provides a cost-effective alternative to existing active DWDM systems in point-to-point applications. The DWDM units are perfectly suited for the connection to existing, SFP-based devices that can be equipped directly with DWDM wavelengths. Other SPEED products can be used for cost-effective wavelength conversion (e.g. SPEED-CONVERTER SFP) in case that existing devices cannot be equipped with SFPs. Up to eight applications can be transmitted especially in point-to-point or “drop and bypass” applications without any additional effort using only a single pair of fibers. The SPEED-DWDM 81 provides a cost-effective solution to extend capacity of existing CWDM networks. The eight protocol transparent Singlemode wavelengths (1547.72 | 1548.51 | 1549.32 | 1550.12 | 1550.92 | 1551.72 | 1552.52 | 1553.33nm) can be transmitted by simply patching the optical output to one 1550nm CWDM channel. Thus up to 12 applications can be connected by using e.g. an existing passive 5-channel CWDM system without the need to substitute existing equipment. The SPEED-DWDM 81 rack mount card can be integrated both in the SPEED-RACKHOUSING (1U), SPEED-SHELF (16 slots) and SPEED-CARRIER (20 slots) system by covering two slots. The SPEED-DWDM series provides purely optical operation, needs no additional power supply and thus is an easy-to-maintain and fail-safe platform.
