Description

Small Form Factor Pluggables (SFPs) are small standardized modules which can be used in a variety of devices including the SPEED products based on SFP technology. The SFP modules are available in various versions depending on the line type (Multimode or Singlemode), wavelength (850nm, 1300nm, 1550nm or CWDM), data rate or achievable distance. Even copper-based SFPs can be used for the SPEED products. The main advantage of using the SFP technology is the flexibility to equip network components. High-quality SFP transceivers are usually operating protocol transparent with the ability to transmit various applications up to 2.5Gbps. Optionally SFPs with integrated diagnostic functions are available to ensure the monitoring of the temperature and the Rx and Tx levels.
