Description

The SPEED-MODEM DSL series are next generation SHDSL modems, perfectly suited for use in campus networks or in the city for users with existing copper infrastructure. Optionally they will transmit up to 5.3Mbps, compared to only 2.3Mbps over 2-wire copper lines using the new G.SHDSL.bis standard. This new standard is especially interesting for LAN-to-LAN connections, which previously were unable to be implemented due to the limitation of a 2.3Mbps data rate or based on the restrictions of achievable distances. The modems are available in two versions: Ethernet plug & play or as a rack mount and SNMP capable high-end solutions with G.703/G.704 (E1), X.21/V.35 (n x 64kbps) or 10/100BaseTX interfaces. The SPEED-MODEM DSL is supporting the use of line or locally powered doublers for multiple back-to-back connections. Without a doubler distances up 38 km with a data rate of 200kbps can be realized depending on the wire diameter. The plug & play Ethernet modem is available as a stand-alone unit, while the high-end solution can be installed as a rack mount card in the 3-slot stand-alone housing and in the 19" SPEED-SHELF.
