Deployment Scenarios

Optical Protection Switch

Optical Protection Switch with 1+1 Protection

1 + 1 Protection without single Point of Failure for maximum availability thanks to the double protection system

By use SPEED-OPTICAL PATH PROTECTION optical xWDM circuits you can improve the availability of xWDM circuits. The failover switching is performed on the optical layer within 50ms from the main path to the recovery link. This failure protection can even be further extended by special double protection function feature , which ensure nearly 100% availability in case of simultaneous failure of one of the main routers, WDM and 1+1 protection systems. This double-protection circuit avoids a single-point-of-failure and increases the availability of the entire system to a maximum.

Chassis

1RU and 5RU modular rack system

Active and passive 1 or 5 RU modular rack system

The modular rack system with 1 or 5 RU can be flexibly equipped with active and passive system cards, depending on the customer's requirements. The system is characterized by a high packing density of up to 1,200 Gbit / s on just 5U footprint. There is no ventilation gap requirement to neighboring systems and up to 19 slots can be equipped with high- and low-bit-rate system cards as well as an NMS card. Thanks to the low installation depth and a flexible redundant power supply of 230 V AC or 48 V DC, the system can be used everywhere.

Management Cards

Central Management with SPEED-NMS card

Central Management with GUI and Elementmanager

The SPEED-NMS management card is the central access point of the SPEED-OTS-5000 series. The monitoring and configuration of the system can be performed via a Graphical User Interface, SNMP or per Command Line Interface.

  • Central access to all configurations of the SPEED-OTS-5000 series
  • SNMP v1, v2c or v3 management for monitoring and configuration
  • IPv6 support
  • User-friendly Graphical User Interface (HTTP / HTTPS)
  • SSH 1.2, or Telnet Access
  • RADUIS User authentication
  • TFTP-Server and Client
  • Configurable NTP-Client / time zone
  • Advance value measurement and status information of the individual transceivers and ports
  • configurable event log and sys log
  • Configuration and software update of all expansion slots via NMS module
  • Embedding of 3rd party network devices via integrated 4-Port switch

Passive xWDM Multiplexer

WDM & CWDM & DWDM & BWDM & ADM Multiplexer as well as DCM and SPLIT Modules

The SPEED-xWDM Series includes a variety of passive CWDM and DWDM modules with different numbers of channels. The SPEED-CWDM Series is available in five, eight, nine and 16 CWDM wavelengths per system card. The CWDM five and nine wavelengths multiplexers have a cascading port that allows them to be extended by another eight CWDM wavelengths without interruption of the running operation.Through the use of DWDM modules, up to 96 DWDM channels can be transmitted over one pair of optical fibers. For each channel, e.g. 200 Gbps application are switched - thus results in a total data rate of 19.2 Tbps per pair of optical fibers. With the help of our cascading concept it is possible to cascade eight to 40 DWDM channels without interrupting already running services. With DWDM band filters, DWDM bands with eight DWDM channels each can be interconnected with lowest signal loss at intermediate locations. The SPEED ad & drop multiplexers are available for CWDM or DWDM applications. With the use of the ad & drop multiplexers, it is possible to deduce and disengage one or more wavelengths in a fiber optic link without having to extract all wavelengths via a CWDM or DWDM module.Depending on customer requirements, we manufacture individual CWDM / DWDM modules with different wavelengths, connectors and port numbers for different housing types. The dispersion compensation module SPEED-DCM compensates the propagation time differences of the different DWDM wavelengths in optical transmission systems. It is a purely passive device which can be equipped along the link for ranges from 20 km to 200 km, depending on the requirements. The dispersion compensation is totally protocol transparent. The SPEED-SPLIT series enables live monitoring of all wavelengths via an external OSA (Optical Spectrum Analyzer) meter. For this, e.g. SPEED-SPLIT 97/03 provides 3% of the optical power and provides it for the analysis.

Muxponder Cards

Multiplexer Cards for the Aggregation of different Channels to 100Gbps and 200Gbps

Multiplexer Cards for Aggregation up to 100 Gbps/200 Gbps

The SPEED-MUX 200G Muxponder Card enables a direct aggregation of 1/10/40 Gigabit Ethernet, 8/16/32 Gigabit Fiber Channel, 5/10/14 / 25G InfiniBand and OTU-2 to 100 Gbps and 200 Gbps, and thus offers the user the maximum flexibility for relevant applications. The pluggable CFP and CFP2 line transceivers transmit 100 Gbps and 200 Gbps services via a 50 GHz DWDM channel. Therefore up to 96 DWDM channels can be realized for a transmission of up to 19.2 Tbps over only one fiber pair. With the integrated AES 256 Bit Layer 1 encryption method, a hardware-based encryption with lowest latency and full data throughput is used. This enables a data transfer according to the highest security standards. Encryption is an option and can be activated via special additional license. The activation of the encryption can also be done retrospectively by a software update without replacing the existing system components. The SPEED-MUX 200G Muxponder Cards can also be used as a dual 100G transponder card. This ensures investment protection for the user as part of future network expansions

Transponder Cards

Converter cards from 100 Mbps up to 100Gbps

Transponder Cards 100 Mbps - 100 Gbps

The SPEED transponder cards are compact 2, 4 or 6 channel transponder cards. Depending on the customer application and transponder card type, pluggable client interfaces are available for SFP, QSFP + and QSFP28 transceivers.

In CWDM and DWDM networks, they convert up to 2/4/6 channels to relevant CWDM and DWDM wavelengths. The multi rate feature supports almost all protocols:

  • 100BaseTX / FX and 1000BaseTX / FX
  • 10/25/100 Gigabit Ethernet
  • E1 / E3
  • STM-1/4/16/64
  • SD-SDI, ED-SDI, HD-SDI, Dual Link HD-SDI, 3G-SDI
  • Audio: MADI protocol
  • 1/2/4/8/10/16 Gigabit Fiber Channel
  • 5/10 Gbps InfiniBand

Additionally the SPEED Transponder Cards with integrated 3R (Reshaping, Re-amplification, Retiming) and FEC (Forward Error Correction) function enable error-free transmission over longer distances. The integrated SNMP agent can send SNMP traps to a management system via Ethernet.

Optical Amplifiers

EDFA and RAMAN Modules for the transmission via longer distances

EDFA and RAMAN Amplifier for long Distances

The use of amplifiers can increase the range of the optical transmission system. Depending on the distance to be overcome and existing intermediate locations, four amplifier variants (booster, inline, pre-amp and RAMAN amplifiers) are available. All SPEED-OTS-5000 amplifier modules amplify up to 96 DWDM channels in the optical C-band on a fiber pair. The protocol transparent amplification is independent of the application to be transmitted. The amplifiers can be monitored and configured locally via the Comand Line Interface (CLI), Telnet and WEB-interface or also remotely via the SPEED-NMS Management Card by using the SNMP standard and supported by the user friendly graphical user interface (GUI). An optional remote management via an in-band OSC channel is also available. All optical amplifiers meet the requirements of Laser Class 1M, so no laser safety officer is necessary.
